We at Absolute Music Academy believe that children learn best when they are excited about what they are learning. Based on this theory, we have built our teaching method and music curriculum focused on creating an environment that enables students to be excited about learning music.
Our teaching method includes traditional pedagogy and private lesson structures while incorporating mainstream music and educational technology.
Students learn music in the standard private lesson setting - but their learning doesn't stop there, as do most music lesson programs. We use various types of technology to allow learning to be effective and fun. Our students look forward to their lessons and enjoy playing music. We find when students love playing music, practicing becomes a rewarding experience not a chore.
It is not just our lesson programs that make us different than the majority of music schools and private lesson programs - we have several comprehensive workshops and performing opportunities that set us apart from the typical music school. Students get the chance to perform with other students, write and compose their own music in a "musical lab" type setting, and create recordings and videos that they get to share with friends, family and in some cases "the world" via social media. We feel it is a critical part of the learning process to make their music something tangible that they can be proud of!
Students also participate in lesson labs where they use the latest in youth music education technology to assist in learning music theory, note-reading, general instrument-specific skills, composing, creating music, and recording music using Mac Desktops, advanced music education software, midi keyboards and a variety of educational technology.
